Adventure made easier.

Meet the Belter 16

The Belter 16 is a 5.9kg, durable kids’ bike designed for tarmac, gravel, grass, and dirt. Its progressive geometry supports young riders, prioritising manoeuvrability, stability and pedalling efficiency.

Crafted from 6061-grade aluminium and featuring a low-maintenance, grease-free Gates Carbon Belt drive, it ensures smooth, rust-free rides. With lightweight aluminium wheels, durable weather proof bearings, and child-specific Tektro brakes, the Belter 16 offers control, comfort, and lasting performance.

The full story

Geometry to get kids moving

Geometry is at the heart of safety, fun, and progress. Even exploring the local neighbourhood demands a progressive, capable geometry if we want our kids to safely develop proper riding skills.

Just like all of our Belter series, the 16 features short stays so that kids have the manoeuvrability to navigate tight spaces. A relaxed head angle keeps them in control when they bump those curbs and a handlebar high enough for comfort, but low enough to optimise pedal efficiency - so crucial for riding up hills.

A 5.9kg aluminium frame, beautifully crafted to last

We use 6061-grade aluminium in our bikes. It's a fantastic material. Strong yet light, weatherproof and super robust.

It’s also a responsive material transferring more power from the pedals to the wheels. In real terms, this means it’s easier to pedal further for longer.

The benefit is a bike that literally goes the distance.

A no rust, no fuss carbon drive train

Geometry is at the heart of safety, fun, and progress. Even exploring the local neighbourhood demands a progressive, capable geometry if we want our kids to safely develop proper riding skills.

Just like all of our Belter series, the 16 features short stays so that kids have the manoeuvrability to navigate tight spaces. A relaxed head angle keeps them in control when they bump those curbs and a handlebar high enough for comfort, but low enough to optimise pedal efficiency - so crucial for riding up hills.

Wheels that reset expectations

The Belter wheelset is built for sustained performance, helping little legs travel further and cope with more obstacles over and again.

We were the first bike company to bring cartridge bearings and cassette hubs to any kids bikes. And with the game changing impact our latest 4 bearing model has had on weight, friction and durability, we had no choice but to roll it out.

Coupled with super light weight aluminium rims and cartridge bearing throughout, you can look forward to more of the riding you love, and less of the maintenance you don’t.

Tyres that keep you on track

The Belter 16 runs 2”, fast rolling tyres as standard, so that learning is easier and safer.

Smooth running on the flats, more grippy in wet and more stable over bumps. Now you don’t have to worry if you get caught out by the weather or if you venture off the path.

And with more air there is more cushioning, so that riding won’t just be safer and more adventurous, it’ll be more enjoyable too.

Touchpoints that elevate control

Every one of The Belter’s touchpoints, be that the bars, saddle, pedals or grips has been anatomically designed to properly fit and function for super small riders.

Ritchey Logic have been at the forefront of component design for the past 50 years. We’ve collaborated with them for over a decade, producing some of the best age specific components to ever grace a kids’ bike.

Little levers, big stopping power

The Belter 16 features powerful, age specific Tektro V brakes with ultra short reach levers and light-pull actuation, making braking easy even for the smallest hands. Braking feedback is smooth and responsive, helping new riders learn what smooth stopping feels like, right from the start.

The all-aluminium lever construction ensures the brakes aren’t at risk should the bike be dropped to the ground.

Quality bike

Our son loves the Belter and we have been getting plenty of comments from other parents at the park. It is sturdy, well-built, and certainly a high-quality product.

Great bike. Poor service

The bike is great but we bought it as a birthday present for our kid and the delivery fast extremely slow. Eventhough we placed the order way ahead of time need didnt get it in time.

And the shipment was in 3 parts; bike, kickstand and some spare parts for another bike which was forgotten in the first shipment.

I am pretty sure our son would have been happier with the bike on his birthday instead of a picture of it.

And we of coursed payed for the shipment.

Early Rider®

Hi Thomas, I'm really sorry we let you down on this one. Having looked at the order I can see that one of the small parts was on pre-order and the whole lot was held until that came in. That was definitely our error for not over-riding the computer and sending the bike. I can only apologise, we should have done better. I really hope your son loves his new bike now he has it, and apologies for the stress and upset for not getting his birthday present there in good time.

Belt trouble

The belt won't move to the middle. Followed the instructions video. But nothing changes.

The second thing is that it's really difficult to find mudguards and a kickstand to fit early rider.

If you know where on the internet and in Europe let know.

Other than that the bike is fine and my daughter love's it

A Real Bike, Not a Toy

We gave our daughter the Belter 16 for her 4th birthday. She's 6 now and still loving it. We are a bike commuting family, so we needed her first pedal bike to be something easy to ride to build her confidence. That's how we justified the cost of this bike. We also have a younger daughter to pass it on to when she outgrows it. She had been riding a balance bike since age 2. We took off the pedals at first to let her transition to the bigger frame and get used to the hand brakes. She probably would have fit a 14 better, but it's a big investment and we wanted some longevity! After a couple weeks on her tip toes riding like a balance bike, we put the pedals back on. At first, she needed help getting going, but was soon biking completely independently, and even managed a 3 km commute to preschool most days! It's a beautiful, well built bike that turns a lot of heads! We'll definitely buy the next size up when she outgrows this one and passes it down to her little sister.

It took 1 day

My daughter use to drive on balance bike last year, this year we bought ER. We went to the straight and flat area, she sat on it and drove. As simple as that. She is still a bit to short, but she feels it already. One cons (for this size and also for 24 inches, which we bought for our older daughter) - there is literally NO bicycle stand available on local market. Such expensive bikes must lay on the ground.

Top bike for kids

The bike is really light compared with other brands and you can feel the quality. I had a little issue after the delivery but the after sales service was perfect!

What an amazing bike

My 4-year-old had just got the hang of cycling without stabilisers and I got her this to progress to. Wow, such a great bike, it's made cycling so much easier that her progression has lept on and she is flying now. We go out riding together now side by side and she covered about two miles on only her third time out on the Belter.

From Trek Pre Caliber

My five-year-old son was tooling around on a 20 inch trek pre-caliber, which was too big for him. His first ride on the belter was hilarious. He could barely control it. It was so much lighter and twitchy. It took him about 15 minutes before he was ripping around. What an improvement. He’s climbing little bumps and hills in our neighborhood that nearly caused tears before. Worth every penny.

Awesome bike

Simply the best bike for kids, wish I had one of these when I was growing up... Lightweight, high quality, easy to maintain, great look. The "factory second" had a couple of minor blemishes (way less than my son would add in about a month).
