Meet the Hellion X20

The Hellion X20 is a full-suspension MTB with a triple-butted mono-link aluminium frame and CNC'd chainstay yoke optimised for strength without unnecessary weight. The 95mm DNM rear shock pairs nicely with 100mm up front thanks to the fully adjustable RST Spex forks to smooth out the worst of the trail. Its long, low, and slack geometry ensures confidence, speed, and agility, while a narrow-wide chainring, forged cranks, and SRAM GX 1x10 drivetrain boost pedalling efficiency and chain safety. Shimano Deore MT500 brakes and tubeless-ready wheels with 2.25" Crown Rubber Vee Gem tyres deliver reliable stopping and rugged performance.

A race optimised full suspension aluminium frame

Built for performance, the Hellion X20 features a triple-butted dual suspension mono link frameset with a CNC'd chainstay yoke precision engineered to take big hits like a pro.

The 95mm DNM rear shock pairs brilliantly with the 100mm up front to deliver exceptional trail feedback, smoothing out roots, rocks and drops. The frame tubing has been deliberately crafted to balance strength (at the pressure points) with lightness, ensuring we don’t waste valuable grams and they don’t lose valuable seconds.

Threaded thru axles ramp up frame stiffness while sliding dropouts give them handling and size adjustments as they progress. To top it off, we added a cable guide for an external dropper because progression is everything.

Long, low and slack

That’s the assignment and we understood it.

The Hellion X20 is built for performance with a geometry optimised for speed, technical acumen and confidence on the gnarly bits.

The low centre of gravity keeps them balanced in the berms while the slack head tube angle takes (some of the drama) out of descending. The short seat stays give the bike a playful responsive feel (while also making manuals just a little easier to master).

A no fuss, full gas chainset

Anatomically designed cockpit

The Ritchey Jr cockpit is anatomically designed for progression and control. When everything fits right, steering becomes more precise, more controlled. The lock on grips prevent hand slip in the inevitable wet muddy conditions.

The X20 also comes spec’d SDG fly junior saddle and SDG Slater pedals which not only offer stability and performance on tougher trails, but also look seriously cool.

Big kid forks, little kid bike

The Hellion X20 comes equipped with 100mm of smash proof front suspension courtesy of RST Spex. Featuring the same levels of adjustability typically found on much bigger kids’ bikes, the Hellion X20 can withstand pretty much anything little rippers decide to throw at it.

Fine tune the float with adjustable air suspension, compression and rebound to dial in their ride according to the demands of their skill set, terrain or current weight.

Lightweight, adjustable brakes

Featuring a lightweight, smooth modulation, plenty of adjustability and ultra reliable braking, it’s no wonder we’re such big fans of Shimano’s Deore MT500s.

Braking feedback is predictable with a smooth modulation that prevents unnecessary emergency stops while the 160mm 6 bolt rotors give bold riders the confidence they need to go hard, and stop harder.

A SRAM GX drivetrain

The SRAM GX 1x10 is a robust, efficient, and versatile drivetrain that balances simplicity with performance. The low-maintenance setup which saves valuable weight without sacrificing performance. With its smooth, accurate shifting, superior weight and robust build, there’s a reason why SRAM GX is the drivetrain of choice for so many pros.

MTB wheels that go hard

Fully sealed bearing hubs, tubeless compatible, double wall rims and optimised spoke count means these wheels rip.

Because there’s no point speccing a great bike with weak wheels.

Sealed bearings keep mud, water and corrosion at bay while double wall rims give you twice the confidence on rocks and roots.

The optimised spoke count means you won’t have to worry about buckled wheels while thru axles makes the rare times you do need to swap tyres a breeze.

Really fast delivery! Bought factory second and the scratch was so minor I struggled to find why it had been reduced. Was sceptically about the suspension set up however the suspension set up seems great and you’re able to lock them out for better climbing efficiency. Not giving to my boy until Christmas but I’m 100% sure he will be stoked! SDG pedals were also provided which was a nice touch too.

This is a great bike! The little guy loves it. He is exited to hit the trails and is looking forward to heading to a bike park. I while assembling I couldn't figure out why this bike was sold as a factory second, but I'm happy to take the discount :)

Just what we needed

Our son is only 5 but fanatical about bikes and riding - the Hellion X20 has made it possible for him to easily keep up with his older siblings and us adults and it’s so nice to ride that he’ll happily do big mileage on it. He adapted to the gears quickly and is already doing small jumps comfortably with the suspension which is soft enough for him to feel the full benefit. The quality of the bike is excellent and we have had great contact with the Early Rider team making us part of the community. Highly recommended from us! Thank you Early Rider!

Love at first ride

My 7 year old son received his Hellion X20 on March 28 and he couldn't be happier about it. This is his third Early Rider, first full suspension bike and a huge leap from last seasons 3 speed hardtail that served him well.

Before the bike arrived we talked about possibly replacing a few of the stock parts to add some custom touches but, once we built the bike up, he changed his mind. He liked the look of the bike so much he refused to swap out a single thing on it.

He's had the bike out for 6 or 7 rides so far, a few around town cruises and a few trail rides, and loves everything about it. It's comfortable and inspires confidence in him - he's already cleared several climbs, descents and features on this bike that he was unable or unwilling to clear or attempt on his last bike.

Everything - the welds on the frame, the parts spec, the final fit and finish - are excellent, and the brakes and shifting were tuned spot on straight out of the box. We assembled the bike ourselves with no problems at all and the the Early Rider owners manual that accompanied the bike was the best I've seen in 35 years of cycling, well done!

I can't wait to see his progression this year - here's to a great season!
